CES 2021 might be a virtual event, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be packed full of tech announcements, giving us a good look at the kind of gadgets that’ll likely be released in 2021. One of the big confirmed keynotes right now is AMD’s CES 2021 presentation, hosted by none other than the company’s CEO and president, Dr. Lisa Su. But with the Zen 3 and RX 6000 Series launches under its belt, what else could AMD have to talk about?
We cover all you need to know about AMD’s CES 2021 keynote right here, from timings to livestream details and what you should expect from the upcoming event.
When is the AMD CES 2021 keynote?
AMD has confirmed that its CES 2021 keynote is due to take place on 12 January 2021 at 11am ET, which translates to 4pm GMT for those of us tuning in from the UK, and it’ll run for around an hour.
How can I watch the AMD CES 2021 keynote live?
Of course, with CES 2021 – and just about every other conference – taking place virtually, you’ll be able to tune in to AMD’s CES 2021 keynote from the comfort of your own home. While specifics are yet to be announced, it’s expected that, like with other recent AMD streams, the CES 2021 keynote stream will be accessible not only via the AMD website but the company’s YouTube channel too.
It’s also likely that it’ll be hosted somewhere on the CES 2021 website for press and industry professionals that have signed up.
We’ll embed the livestream when it becomes available, so simply bookmark this page and head back here on 12 January at 4pm GMT/11am ET to see what AMD has up its sleeve.
What will AMD announce at CES 2021?
AMD’s CES 2021 keynote has been common knowledge for quite some time, with the confirmation of the event coming back in September – before the company had even revealed the Radeon RX 6000 Series or Zen 3-based desktop CPUs.
However, despite the big launches in September and October, it’s said that Dr. Lisa Su, president and CEO of AMD, will be showcasing the “company’s vision for the future of research, education, work, entertainment and gaming, including a portfolio of high-performance computing and graphics solutions” at the CES 2021 keynote, suggesting the company could have another Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics card tucked up its sleeve.
Rumours currently suggest it’ll be the entry-level Radeon RX 6700 in answer to Nvidia’s recently released and competitively priced RTX 3060 Ti. We cover the latest AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series news separately for those that want to find out more ahead of the official announcement.
Beyond the possibility of a new GPU, it’s likely that AMD will use its CES 2021 keynote to unveil the rumoured laptop-focused Ryzen 5000 Series. After all, it used its CES 2020 keynote to unveil the 4000 Series, and the CES 2021 keynote announcement did mention new high-performance computing solutions, so all signs point towards the launch of 2021’s mobile-focused Ryzen 5000 Series.
Of course, there’s less excitement around built-in laptop processors compared to their desktop counterparts, but it’ll be welcome news for anyone in the market for a high-speed laptop in the new year – especially considering a few have already leaked.
