The first full trailer for the series is finally here – take a look:

Who are the cast and crew of Y: The Last Man?

Here’s the cast members that we know will be starring in Y: The Last Man, and who they will be playing:

Ben Schnetzer as Yorick Brown
Diane Lane as President Jennifer Brown
Ashley Romans as Agent 355 / Peace
Diana Bang as Dr. Allison Mann
Olivia Thirlby as Hero Brown
Juliana Canfield as Beth DeVille
Marin Ireland as Nora Brady
Amber Tamblyn as Kimberly Cunningham
Paul Gross as the U.S. President
Elliot Fletcher as Sam Jordan

Behind the camera, the original comic book writer of the series, Brian K. Vaughan, will be producing alongside Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, with the production companies Color Force and FX Production.

The showrunner and writer of several episodes is Eliza Clark, who is also an executive producer. There have been many changes behind the camera, with Michael Green and Aida Mashaka Croal both exiting as showrunners throughout the development process.

The series also changed the channel it was supposed to airing on – so to see it finally come to fruition after a lot of problems is great.

Louise Friedberg will direct the first few episodes, and the whole season will be helmed by women directors.

What is the plot of Y: The Last Man?

Y: The Last Man is all about a mysterious plague which wipes out all males of every species on Earth, apart from two – Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand. The pair join forces with Agent 355 to set out across the country to discover who started this genocide and why.

We don’t know yet whether the show will cover every single issue in the comics. Keep in mind that the original story ran for 60 issues, so six seasons with ten episodes per season would make sense – but this depends on the show getting renewed.

This apocalyptic story is considered one of the strongest from DC comics, so providing the creative issues behind the camera don’t impact the series, this could be the new hit to take over from The Walking Dead, the popularity of which has dwindled over the last few years.

Where to watch Y: The Last Man

If you’re in the US, you’ll be able to watch Y: The Last Man on FX via Hulu. New subscribers can get a free trial for a month, and then a subscription either costs $5.99 per month for ad-supported content and $11.99 per month for ad-free. You can sign up on the Hulu website.

For UK and European viewers, you’ll be able to watch the series on Disney Plus. The show will sit on the Star library, which is the place for all Hulu shows. Disney+ costs either £7.99 per month, or £79.90 per year, and you can sign up for an account over on the Disney+ website.
