Honor’s upcoming MagicBook V 14 is the first laptop confirmed to run Windows 11 out of the box. The company revealed the news while announcing a strategic partnership with Microsoft, although none of the device’s specs were revealed.
Judging by the name, the MagicBook V 14 will be the first entry in a new ‘V’ Series of Honor laptops. It will presumably have a 14in display, while rumours suggest it’ll feature dual 5Mp front-facing cameras – that’s something we haven’t seen on a laptop before . As for any other features or pricing, we’ll have to wait for an official announcement.
It might seem a strange move on Honor’s part, but there’s clear logic behind the decision. The MagicBook V 14 will be officially launched on 26 September, four days after Microsoft announces new hardware of its own. Every new Surface device running Windows is expected to ship with Windows 11, ahead of the new OS coming out on 5 October. If Honor waits until its event, the coveted status of being ‘first’ will be lost – this probably means more to it than Microsoft.
Despite dedicating a full press release to it, concrete details about what Honor and Microsoft’s partnership will bring to the table are also scarce. It’s hard to glean much from Honor stating both companies will work to ‘develop ground-breaking AI and end devices and create forward-looking technology strategies’. We do know that it will be linked to Honor’s ‘1+8+N’ strategy for an ecosystem of devices which all work seamlessly together.

With the Windows 11 release date fast approaching, look out for plenty more laptops to ship running the new OS soon. In fact, devices launching with Windows 10 out of the box will now be few and far between.
