Gaming chairs are a great way to showcase your flair, with just about every colour combination you could think of available from one manufacturer or another. Let’s not forget about the limited-edition chairs from the likes of Secretlab either, with branding from popular titles like Batman and Minecraft available from its online store.
The question is, what happens when you want to redecorate your gaming space or, more simply, get tired of staring at the same Cyberpunk 2077 logo years after the game’s release? While you’ve traditionally had to take the hit and buy a brand-new gaming chair, that’s not great for your wallet or the environment.
Secretlab’s answer to that question? Skins. Much like in-game skins for multiplayer titles like Fornite, Secretlab’s new skins allow you to completely change the look of your gaming chair without getting a new model, and the company says the process takes as little as three minutes to do.
It might sound obvious, but it’s actually a first in the gaming chair market.
The new skins are available in a greeny-blue, baby pink, grey, lavender purple and black, as well as new skin versions of existing limited edition Secretlab chairs including League of Legends, The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, and it’s likely the list will grow further over time.
It’s not just simply for visuals either; Secretlab claims that it “doubles the softness” with extra padding embedded within the skin, as well as offering full protection from the daily wear and tear for your chair that’ll hopefully mean it lasts longer as a result.
It also means you can take the skin off and throw it in the washing machine if you spill something on it during a particularly tense online gaming session.
Importantly, it won’t look like a cover when put onto your gaming chair, with Secretlab claiming it offers “an indistinguishable form and precise fit” compared to the original via a patent-pending fitting system.
The catch? It’s only available for the most recent chair in Secretlab’s collection, the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022. It is a very good gaming chair, earning 4.5 stars in our Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 review and the top spot in our roundup of the best gaming chairs, but it’s not ideal if you’ve got an older Secretlab gaming chair.
It’s also not the cheapest accessory for your gaming chair, with prices starting at $169/£169, but that is around 1/3 of the cost of a new Secretlab chair so there is still some value to be had compared to buying a new chair entirely.
Compatibility and premium price tag aside, it’s an exciting idea that allows gamers to change the look of their gaming chair on the fly, with more vibrant, eye-catching skins. It’s not as much of a daunting idea to opt for a garishly bright and in-your-face gaming chair if you have the option of toning it down in future, either.
The Secretlab Skins are available to buy right now from the Secretlab website following launch earlier today, and if you haven’t already, you can buy the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 here.
