Game of Thrones star Kit Harington and UFC sensation Conor McGregor have appeared in the first trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare which drops November 4th on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
This year’s Call of Duty story is set in space, in a distant future, when Earth has been drained of its resources and mankind is joined (quite fictionally) as one race under the banner of the United Nations Space Alliance (UNSA). Colonies have been formed through the solar system but hostilities have risen due to a separatist faction called the Settlement Defense Front (SDF) thus leading to the Inifinite Warfare referenced in the game’s title.
The game’s official synopsis from publisher Activision reads:
“After a simultaneous surprise attack on UNSA forces in Geneva and the Moon Port Gateway, Lt. Nick Reyes must take the helm of the Retribution, one of Earth’s last remaining warships. In a time of unthinkable adversity, Reyes must lead his trusted crew against the relentless Settlement Defense Front’s plans to dominate all who oppose them. The freedom of every citizen of Earth is at stake.”
The character of Reyes is played by veteran voice actor Brian Bloom, who is joined by Kit Harrington – Jon Snow in HBO’s top telly show Game of Thrones, who voices the character of Rear Admiral Salen Kotch of the SDF. He is followed by his second in command the brutish Captain Bradley Fillion, voiced and physically represented by MMA champ Conor McGregor who recently released a first look at his character on Twitter and, typical of his signature cockiness, the caption “When the biggest need the baddest to do work, I answer the call.”
From this first look of the game in action Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare looks to be one of the best looking and performing in the series yet and a fresh spin for next gen console gamers. Available on both PlayStation and Xbox brands the game will also come with built in 4K HDR experiences, unique to those who buy the upcoming PS4 Pro.
