Christmas is a classic time for watching a lot of TV, but with more streaming services and TV channels than ever, it’s a bit overwhelming. Here we’ve rounded up what Sky has to offer by the way of Sky Cinema movie premieres and the popular Sky Max channel.

Sky Christmas freebies
Before we look at some of the TV highlights, Sky has announced that Sing is available from Sky Store completely free of charge for Sky TV customers until 31 December.
On Boxing Day, sports fans can watch the Premiere League match. Aston Villa vs. Chelsea, completely for free. They can also tune into the World Darts Championship, the Championship game Barnsley vs. Stoke City and the Scottish Premiership match St Johnstone vs. Celtic.
Sky’s free channel, Sky Showcase, will also be broadcasting the following films on 27 December: Blithe Spirit, Riverdance: The Animated Adventure, Promising Young Woman and SAS: Red Notice.
There’s also free calls from your Sky Talk landline to anywhere in the world on 25th and 26th December – including to mobiles.

Sky has a number of originals and specials airing this Christmas. Here are our picks of some of the best:
Hansel and Gretel: After Ever After – 23 December at 8pm
David Walliams and Sheridan Smith are practically unrecognisable in this reimagining of a children’s classic fairytale, in which we see what happens to the gingerbread-loving siblings after the original story ends.
The Amazing Mr Blunden – Christmas Eve at 7pm
Antonia Barber’s book, The Ghost, has been adapted by Mark Gatiss for Sky and Now. Jamie and Lucy are two teenagers who go to a mansion, only to travel back in time 1821, with the help of a mysterious man, played by Simon Callow.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts – New Year’s Day, time TBC
Welcome in the New Year with a look back at one of the most iconic and magical film franchises of all time. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and other stars of Harry Potter will all be reuniting to reflect on some of the best moments.
In addition, Sky Cinema has all eight Harry Potter films available to watch this Christmas.
