A growing number of indies have received physical editions for Nintendo Switch, allowing collectors the opportunity to add games we wouldn’t normally expect to come on a cart to their shelves. The latest is Cadence of Hyrule, the roguelike rhythm game from Brace Yourself Games that brought Crypt of the Necrodancer’s inventive gameplay to the world of Zelda. Cadence of Hyrule’s physical edition launches October 23 and comes with all three pieces of DLC announced during this week’s Nintendo Direct Mini. It’s available to pre-order now at GameStop for $40.

If you already own Cadence of Hyrule’s digital version, purchasing the $40 physical edition may be a tough ask. But for collectors, you’re getting the complete experience on the cart. It comes with the $25 base game as well as the $15 season pass, which comes with the Character Pack, Melody Pack, and a new campaign based on The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
As a heads up for those who are looking to grab the DLC digitally: You’re far better off purchasing the $15 season pass. The Character Pack and Melody Pack cost $6 each, while the new campaign will set you back $10. You’ll save seven bucks by grabbing the season pass and get access to each of the DLCs as they release. The Character Pack released after the Nintendo Direct Mini, while the latter two will arrive by the end of October.

If you haven’t played Cadence of Hyrule yet, you’re missing out. It earned an 8/10 in our Cadence of Hyrule review, in large part because it embodies the spirit of the classic Nintendo series while innovating on the formula by offering a great and fun new way to explore Hyrule.
“Cadence of Hyrule is a fantastic Zelda game in its own right, even though it adopts the gameplay mechanics of another series,” critic James O’Connor wrote. “Beyond the aesthetics, it nails the satisfying sense of exploration and increasing power, and it revels in the joy of discovery, as all the best Zelda games do. It’s an extremely successful melding of two great game series and an experience that makes you feel eager for Nintendo to do more interesting things with their major licenses.”
Speaking of Nintendo Switch indies that are getting physical releases, we just learned that House House’s breakout hit Untitled Goose Game is getting a physical release for Switch as well.
